The Defence Ministry honors the heroes of the Kargil War on its 25th anniversary.
The Kargil War began in May 1999 when Pakistani soldiers crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and infiltrated the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry of Defence has commemorated the bravery of our soldiers on the 25th anniversary of ‘Kargil Vijay’. On this significant day, Operation Vijay was celebrated as a resounding success. Reflecting on 25 years of courage and victory, the Defence Ministry shared a tribute on social media, stating, “On this day, 25 years ago, #OperationVijay was declared a resounding success. Our soldiers displayed exceptional bravery on the heights of Kargil, a testament to our nation’s pride and honour. #25YearsofKargilVijay.”
Among the 527 brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country were Captain Vikram Batra, Lt Manoj Kumar Pandey, Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari, Major Vivek Gupta, and others.
In honour of their sacrifice and valour, the Indian Army initiated the Pan-India Motorcycle Expedition on June 12th. This expedition serves to highlight their significant contributions and uphold the legacy of our courageous soldiers, symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Indian Army.
