The BJP plans to appoint a new National President by December, as JP Nadda’s current term comes to an end.

As per the BJP party constitution, members are required to renew their membership every nine years. This requirement has prompted the BJP to start looking for a new president.

In New Delhi, JP Nadda’s tenure as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has concluded. Although initially extended until June 2024, he has now assumed significant responsibilities within the government. Consequently, the BJP is actively seeking a new president.

The party aims to finalize the appointment of a new national president by December this year. The election process will kick off on August 1, beginning with a comprehensive membership drive and a focus on strengthening district and state units.

According to the BJP’s constitution, every member is required to renew their membership every nine years. This year’s membership campaign will also involve the Prime Minister, party president, and other leaders in renewing their memberships.

The election timeline includes a membership drive from August 1 to September 15, followed by an active membership campaign from September 16 to 30. Verification of active memberships will take place from October 1 to 15. Mandal (local unit) president elections are scheduled from November 1 to 15, and district president elections from November 16 to 30.

After these elections, state council and central council members will be elected, followed by state president elections starting on December 1. Once elections are completed in 50% of the states, the official process to elect the national president will commence.

This phased approach ensures a structured transition within the BJP’s organizational hierarchy, preparing it for future political challenges and opportunities. JP Nadda, now Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, continues his role as a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, overseeing the Health, Chemicals, and Fertilizers portfolio in the Modi 3.0 cabinet post the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
