Indore Breaks World Record by Planting 1.1 Million Trees in a Single Day
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav received the official Guinness World Records certificate.
Indore, Madhya Pradesh: Indore has set a stunning new world record by planting more than 1.1 million saplings in just one day. This achievement not only cements Indore’s status as the cleanest city in India but also showcases its dedication to environmental preservation. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav proudly received the official Guinness World Records certificate for this feat.
“Indore is now number one globally. Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to my fellow citizens of Indore for making history with this massive plantation effort, following our notable success in cleanliness. Because of your efforts, Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh and the cleanest city in India, has set a world record by planting more than 1.1 million saplings in a single day,” Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said in a post on X. He further added, “With inspiration from our esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and in the honorable presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah ji, Madhya Pradesh has achieved this remarkable milestone, sending a strong message of environmental conservation and devotion to Mother Earth.”
Guinness World Records consultant Nishchal Barot informed ANI that the previous record was held by Assam, where 926,000 saplings were planted in one day. “The title of this Guinness World Record is ‘Most trees planted by a team within 24 hours.’ We began the record attempt on July 13 at 7:03 pm, and it concluded today at 7:03 pm. Impressively, Indore surpassed the previous record by 5:00 pm. Assam’s record of planting 926,000 saplings in 24 hours has been broken. While the final numbers are yet to be released, we have already presented the certificate for the new world record to CM Mohan Yadav,” he stated.
The Revati Range plantation site was divided into nine zones and 100 sub-zones. The large-scale plantation drive was meticulously monitored with 100 cameras, and the administration spent 46 days preparing for this significant event.
Earlier on Saturday, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya held a press conference to outline the upcoming world record attempt and the comprehensive preparations for the mega plantation drive on Sunday.
Urban Administration Minister Vijayvargiya and Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava extended their congratulations to the citizens, BSF soldiers, and the over 200 social, educational, religious, and business organizations that participated in the plantation drive. “The vision to plant 1.1 million saplings was conceived on May 27. After 46 days of dedicated effort and teamwork, we have achieved this significant milestone today,” Vijayvargiya stated.
