One of the individuals implicated in the murder of Tamil Nadu BSP Chief K Armstrong was killed in a police encounter in Chennai late last evening, according to officials.

Police sources reported that Thiruvengadam was taken to the scene to retrieve weapons believed to have been used in K Armstrong’s killing. During this operation, he allegedly fired at police officials with one of the recovered guns. In the ensuing exchange of fire, he sustained injuries and was swiftly transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, medical personnel declared him brought dead.

K Armstrong had been brutally attacked by six motorcycle-borne assailants near his residence in Chennai earlier this month. The assailants assaulted Armstrong while he was in discussion with party members near his home in the Sembium area of the city, after which they fled the scene. Despite efforts by his family to rush him to a hospital, Armstrong was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Thiruvengadam had been among those arrested on suspicion of involvement in Armstrong’s murder. A lawyer by profession, Armstrong had gained prominence after organizing a large rally in Chennai two years ago, where he had invited BSP chief Mayawati. Mayawati has called for a CBI investigation into the attack, emphasizing the need for the state government to prioritize law and order, particularly for vulnerable sections of society.
